IFTDO HISTORY
IFTDO
was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1972 in order to develop
and maintain a worldwide network committed to identify, develop
and transfer knowledge, skills and technology to enhance personal
growth, human performance, productivity and sustainable development
IFTDO
is a diversified network of human resource management and
development organisations linking HR professionals in HR societies,
corporations, universities, consultancies, government organisations
and enterprises. Through its member organisations it represents
more than 500,000 professionals in 50 countries
IFTDO
is a charity registered with the Charity Commission No. 326633
and a company limited by guarantee registered in England and
Wales No. 1829725. It is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (C)
(3) organisation in the United States. It has Special Consultative
Status with ECOSOC of the United Nations.

HELPING MEMBER ORGANISATIONS:
- Provide assistance to countries
without HRD institutions, helping them to produce constitutions,
funding visits to established members as learning experiences,
and assisting them in the organisation of their own seminars.
- Facilitate and encourage traveling
IFTDO members to make themselves available for consultation
with and mentoring of colleagues and encourage all members
to make use of these opportunities.
- Arrange for not less than six (6)
fellowships at each annual IFTDO conference for participants
from developing countries.
- Conduct a workshop on forming, developing
and managing an HRD organisation at each annual IFTDO
conference, targeting countries where HRD organisations
do not exist.
- Produce an international code of
ethics and best practices forIFTDO executive board, full
and associate members, and members' members.
- Develop professional standards linking
to ongoing work by members and others engaged in standards
development..
